Architectural new build under construction on the Ōmokoroa peninsula for the Mellelieu family. Dark cladding, timber deck, native landscaping.

Recently completed in the coastal landscape of Ōmokoroa, Tauranga, this striking 330m² home has been carefully designed to respond to its sloping site and surrounding views. The home is composed of two distinct forms, a grounded garage wing anchored into the land, and a cantilevered living wing that extends outward to capture the stunning outlook. Positioned above, the master suite enjoys expansive views across the surrounding landscape.
This project was a true collaboration between client, architect, and builder, resulting in a home rich in thoughtful detail and craftsmanship. Carefully considered design features include Shou Sugi Ban charred timber cladding, curved architectural forms, internal feature cladding, and a refined palette of finishes throughout.
Sustainability was a key driver in the design, reflecting the client’s strong commitment to ecological sensitivity. The home incorporates a range of environmentally conscious features, including solar power, rainwater collection and reuse, thermally broken joinery, mechanical ventilation, and sustainably sourced materials.
We are incredibly proud to have worked closely with our clients over the past year to bring their vision to life, creating a home that is both architecturally distinctive and deeply connected to its environment.
